News Years’ Eve – Trafalgar Square

This afternoon and evening, Gina & I went out to celebrate the end of 2015, and the beginning of 2016. We first went to Trafalgar Square, then saw a theatre production of “Mr Foote’s other leg”, followed by a very nice meal at a nearby restaurant.
Christmas day lunch

Today we all got together for a Christmas day lunch. Despite me having cold, we all enjoyed a most delicious turkey lunch, served up by the cook, Gina.
Gina’s 60th birthday party

This evening we invited our most immediate family out to a very nice local restaurant, to celebrate Gina’s 60th birthday.
After a most enjoyable meal, we all sang Gina a very happy birthday whilst the waiter brought out her birthday cake.

Today we had a family get-together lunch, to celebrate Marc’s birthday.
Holiday in Sardinia

Gina & I just got back from a lovely holiday, staying on the island of Sardinia (Italy).
We took one day out to go on cruise around some nearby smaller islands, and help the local wildlife take a light snack.
We also visited a local archaeological burial site, around 4,000 years old. It is set beside a vineyard (seen in background).
Then back to our hotel, for a scene of the view from our balcony.
James’ birthday

This afternoon we celebrated the recent birthday of our youngest son, James.
The weather managed to hold off the expected rain, and so we had both lunch and tea in our garden.
Moody Blues concert

This evening, Gina & I went to see & hear the world famous Moody Blues in concert, at the Apollo Theatre, Hammersmith.
Appearing were Justin Hayward, John Lodge and Graeme Edge, who commented that the group had just celebrated their 51st year, and he his 74th birthday!
G-day & Malcolm’s 83rd birthday

Today saw a double celebration, with the occasion of both a long awaited “G-day” for Gina’s “Gumbiner” side of the family, plus her cousin Malcolm’s 83rd birthday party.
Eastcote House fair

This afternoon we visited the opening of the refurbished Eastcote House gardens, with a village fair.
There were lots of different stalls, offering a great variety of produce and wares.
A real bonus, were all the old/vintage cars on display, covering over half a century of motoring.
Walk around Eastcote House gardens

This afternoon, Gina & I went for a walk around the grounds and walled garden, of the newly refurbished Eastcote House.
Afternoon at Henley on Thames

This afternoon we visited Henley on Thames, for a walk down by the river.
The weather was a little overcast, but we had plenty of fresh air.
Then off to the local tea rooms, for some refreshment.
Simon’s birthday party

This afternoon, we held a slightly delayed birthday party for my brother Simon, joined by Marc, Scott & Alex.
Aunty Jean’s 90th birthday party

Today my aunty Jean celebrated her 90th birthday, with a party held for about 50 close relatives and friends, at Chalk Farm, not far from where she lives in Eastbourne.
After the birthday lunch and speeches, the weather was so nice, that we spent the rest of the afternoon in the garden outside.
It also gave us all an excellent opportunity to catch up on the latest family news.
Lastly, a very big thank you to my cousin Martin and his wife Jann, plus everybody else concerned, for all the immense hard work and effort that they put into making a wonderful day for my aunt and everyone at the party.
